It matches names, not vibes
Every emoji in Unicode ships with an official short name and a list of keywords, maintained in the Common Locale Data Repository. 🍕 is pizza, with cheese, slice and food alongside it. This page loads that list and matches your words against it. There is no model
guessing at what you meant, which is why the result is reproducible: the same sentence always comes back the same way.
The deliberate restraint is the common words. Replacing a, the and on with the nearest picture turns a sentence into a rebus nobody can read. So the dictionary skips them, and short words are left alone unless the match is exact.
Your text never leaves the page
The dictionary travels with the page, and the matching happens on your own device. Nothing you paste is sent anywhere: there is no record of it to keep, to leak, or to hand over. The emoji palette works the same way, in 26 languages, and Privacy covers the rest of the site on the same terms.
