How it works
- Bet 1 to 5 credits and deal 5 cards.
- Hold any of them, then draw once: the rest are replaced.
- The final hand pays by the table: a pair of jacks or better returns the bet, and it climbs to a royal flush.
- At 5 credits the royal flush pays 4,000 rather than 1,250, which is why the maximum bet is the one to play.
- The chips are pretend and shared with every casino game here.

- 1 credit is worth 1, 5 or 25 chips, whichever you pick.
Why 9/6 matters
A jacks or better machine is named by 2 numbers on its paytable: what a full house pays and what a flush pays, per credit. This one is 9/6, the full-pay version. Played perfectly it returns about 99.5% of what goes in over the long run. The same machine at 8/5 returns about 97.3%, and nothing else on the glass looks different. Each hand is a fresh 52-card deck, and the cards you throw away are gone: a draw comes only from the 47 you have not seen.
What to hold
Keep any hand that already pays, except that 4 cards to a royal flush are worth breaking a straight or a flush for. Keep a high pair (jacks or better) over 4 cards to a flush. Keep a low pair rather than drawing to high cards. With nothing at all, the high cards (jacks to aces) are the ones worth keeping. Never keep a kicker next to a pair: it only takes away a card that could have made 3 of a kind.
