How it works
- The pads light up in an order. Repeat it by pressing them in the same order.
- Every round adds 1 more to the end of the same sequence.
- 1 wrong pad ends the run, and the round you reached is the score.
- The pattern plays a little faster as it grows, which is the part that gets you.
Controls
- Click or tap a pad.
- Tab walks the pads, Space or Enter presses one.
- The number keys 1 to 6 press the pads in order.
- R starts a new run.
Where most runs end
Short-term memory holds somewhere around 7 items, and a sequence of colours is exactly the kind of list it holds badly: there is nothing to attach the order to. Most people stall between 6 and 9, and the way past it is to stop remembering pads and start remembering pairs, the way a phone number is remembered in chunks rather than digits.

The pattern, the checking and the score all happen in this tab. The longest run you managed is remembered on this device and goes nowhere else.
