Emoji minesweeper
Clear every safe tile without hitting a bomb. The first tap is always safe.
The board
10bombs left
0:00time
—your best
🙂board
Open any tile. The first one is always safe.
How it works
- A number says how many bombs touch that tile, diagonals included.
- The first tile you open is always empty, so no run ends on move 1.
- Opening an empty tile clears its neighbours until it reaches numbers.
- Flag a suspected bomb rather than opening it. Clearing every safe tile wins.
Controls
- Click to open, right-click to flag.
- On a touch screen the flag switch turns taps into flags.
- Tab walks the tiles, Space or Enter opens one, F flags the focused tile.
- R deals a new board.
The first tap is dealt around you
The bombs are not placed until you open the first tile, and then they are placed everywhere except that tile and its neighbours. So the opening move always breaks a hole in the board rather than ending the game, which is the difference between a puzzle and a coin toss. Everything after it is the ordinary game, where a guess is sometimes the only move left.
Nothing leaves the tab
The field, the clearing and the clock all happen in this tab. Your best time for each size is remembered separately, because a 9 by 9 time is not a 16 by 16 time.
